Many animals in the store were in filthy conditions. This place is only a "rescue" in that the animals really needs to be rescued out of this store.
Disgustingly dirty enclosures that are overpopulated and rarely cleaned. Rotting food, feces, and flies are everywhere inside of the tanks. The employees/children/whoever runs this place are sitting around on their ass and doing nothing while these tanks get dirtier and nastier all while the animals inside are suffering. Supporting local businesses is important but your money is better off at Petco or Petsmart.
Super friendly, helpful, ensured my kids knew all about the tortoise we were getting. No, I don't like creepy crawlies. Yes, I agree they can stink. Yes, there are many critters there and they don't smell pretty. Didn't notice anything foul or cruel as others have posted. Seemed like nice family place. We love our tortoise and would get another there..
Bought tank/stand that came infested with cockroaches. Owner tried to stand by his no return policy. Stated that because he didn't see any cockroaches crawling out from under it in the store that it was my problem. Eventually took a partial refund just to get it out of my house.
CCSB is a very good place. To those that say bad about it, you disgust me with your ignorance. Chad is very knowledgeable about the reptiles and though sometine the enclosures get dirty you need to know that he is always cleaning up after them and does take good care of all the animals. And yes unfortunately some of the animals do die but it is a rehabilitation center and rescue and not a pet shop. Some of the animals are sick due to poor conditions they have lived in prior to coming to CCSB. Chad has helped us out many times and is always happy to entertain questions regarding reptiles.
I don't understand the negative reviews. I have never witnessed what they've reported and the owner has always been friendly and willing to help in whatever way he can. If anyone is looking to learn about or adopt a reptile, I'd recommend checking CCSB first!
