The ER is horrible. Longest wait time I've ever experienced. If they can't adequately serve the patients, then they should just close. I sat in the most excruciating pain of my life for hours waiting to be seen by anybody. The chairs in the lobby are the most uncomfortable chairs. You'd think they'd provide better comfort to those sick and in pain. I'll never come to this place again. Avoid their ER at all costs!!!
I intentionally waited awhile after my visit because I wanted to be able to compare the bills to the service. Cost benefit ratio is not in favor of coming here, or dealing with Novant in general. No diagnosis was received at the ER. At the ER I had an expensive CT scan that didn't, and would not have, shown the issues I was having. My insurance paid what they consider their part (another review, another day) and I'm left with several thousands worth of thoroughly worthless services that ultimately did me no good. All of the services around this gut flora problem were handled through Novant. There were excessive tests and scans ordered when a thorough history + stool sample/test would have done the job. If I had the time to pursue legal action I would. This level of relying on testing and imaging in place of clinical skills does not justify the 5 figures I'm incurring with Novant, though only 3-4k from this particular facility. Also, this facility expects you to pay the bill within 3 months in full. There is another option if you use MyChart but I'm still working on figuring that out. And they don't accept CareCredit. So if you have another option besides Novant, use it. Avoid this place and its affiliates at all costs.
This was my first experience at this facility...and my last. If I could give a zero rating, I would. This patient (otherwise referred to only by her birth date and not her name) waited 3 hours to be seen, despite the posted online wait time of 40 minutes. I was told by 2 of the nurses that "I picked the wrong day to come in" because that particular day of the week was so busy and that it would have been better for everyone had I come in the next day. I'm sorry; I thought an emergency was an emergency, regardless of the day of the week. Three separate people from registration came in to get me registered...and the latter two mistook me for the wrong person. It was freezing cold in the room, but there were no blankets on the bed. I had to request them and then wait 20 minutes, all the while turning the fitted bed sheet up over my legs to keep from shivering whilst in my gown. After my release, I was referred by the ER physician to a local specialist (who, by the way, was NOT affiliated with Novant), and when I showed up for my appointment with the specialist he spoke so highly of, the specialist made lewd comments and was completely unprofessional. The experience with the specialist was so horrible that I refused a necessary medical procedure and have opted to go elsewhere, where I might be treated as a human being and not a piece of female meat. I'm willing to pay the extra $200 for an office visit just to avoid ever having to encounter this so-called specialist. Lastly, it's funny how the non-Novant specialist had no problem getting access to my hospital records, but when I called to request that my records be sent to the NEW specialist of my choice, I was informed that it would take Novant between 30 and 90 days to send them, IF (and "IF" being the operative word) they decided it was necessary to send them to my preferred provider in the first place. HOW CAN YOU TELL ME THAT I MUST HAVE A CERTAIN PROCEDURE DONE ASAP IF THE RECORDS WON'T MAKE IT TO MY PREFERRED PHYSICIAN IN 1 TO 3 MONTHS, AS THE PHYSICIAN OTHERWISE CAN'T TREAT ME WITHOUT HAVING SEEN MY RECORDS? I spent hours on the phone, trying to get this situation resolved so that I don't -- oh, you know -- potentially DIE in the meantime as I wait for the records from a one-time visit to be shared with another doctor. I begged on the phone. I cried on the phone. I asked to register a complaint. I was told it would take a supervisor 72 hours to get back to me. What the hell kind of facility would treat a patient so callously? Apparently this one. In the meantime, I have absolutely no idea what to do because everyone I spoke with at Novant was useless and seemed not to care one iota, including the individual who hung up on me while I was simply asking for a supervisor. Thanks a lot. Merry Christmas to you too.
Nurses and staff were excellent despite being busy. The doctor rushed through the examination of my daughter. She had an abscess behind her tonsil. She had been through two rounds of antibiotics and her left tonsil was touching her epiglottis and nearly blocking her airway. We were sent home with just a sore throat as a diagnosis. A day later the urgent care told us to go directly to the ER. Baptist took one look, ordered a CT scan, white blood count, and admitted her to the hospital. She is now under their care. I know mistakes happen, but this doctor's rushed exam has my daughter in the hospital right now. We'll never go here again. They have lost our trust.
Doctor thought my wife had pancreantitis so he orders high dollar ct scan that shows nothing. Refers her to a specialists that says the scan would have never worked. The specialist orders an inexpensive scan and finds the problem right away. Two weeks later her gallbladder is out and she's fine. Kernersville medical is full of greed or incompotence. Maybe both. I wouldn't go there if I was on my death bed.
